About Randolph Residents Directory

Randolph no longer has one current book of every household. Useful records are held in different places: assessor records connect owners and parcels, the Clerk keeps local election and street-list materials, the Registry records deeds, and library collections preserve older directories. Randolph Residents Directory is a private reference for locating those sources when a name, address, or family history question points toward one of them.

Why Randolph Has This Reference

Older printed directories did not make the underlying Randolph records disappear. They left a split record trail. Norfolk County land records identify parties to deeds, the Randolph Assessors keep the property roll, and the Town Clerk maintains local street-list, election, and vital-record functions. Turner Free Library and state repositories hold many historical sources. The purpose here is to identify the right custodian, access route, and limits before a reader starts searching.

What the Reference Organizes

  • Search paths: the street directory for address-based records, the Directory Book for older volumes, and the resident lookup for checking one person across official sources
  • Custodian information: the assessor, Registry of Deeds, Town Clerk, court clerks, vital-record offices, and local-history collections
  • Practical methods: ways to trace an address, interpret an old directory entry, and connect a household across record periods
  • Access boundaries: Massachusetts public-records rules, restricted material, and the request route when no online index is offered

Limits of Our Role

Randolph Residents Directory is a privately operated reference, not part of the Town of Randolph, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, any court, or any library. Its operators cannot:

  • Verify that a particular person currently lives in Randolph
  • Retrieve, certify, amend, or file a record for someone else
  • Add a person to, or remove a person from, a public roll or database
  • Offer legal advice about a record, title, or dispute
  • Guarantee that every link, fee, collection date, or office practice has not changed

Only the public office or collection holding a record can authenticate, certify, or correct it. Material found here cannot be used for credit, employment, housing, or insurance decisions.
